Heart Work Therapy

In the spirit of owning our stories and the desire to live life wholeheartedly, my inclination is to help clients with creating a plan towards living a life of meaning and hope. I believe that meaningful change is rooted at the intersection of some hard work and a lot of heart work - that is the Heart Work way.

Maleeha Hamid, BSW, MSW, RSW Registered Social Worker

About Me

My name is Maleeha and I’m a Registered Social Worker (RSW) dedicated to cultivating a safe space for clients as we work on a plan for you towards self- growth, reflection, and healing. As a clinical RSW, I try to provide a therapeutic and brave space for you to share experiences of heartbreak, breakdowns and breakthroughs. I believe that you are the author of your own story and parts of it may have difficult and painful points. By sitting with your story and unpacking it with an experienced professional, it is my hope that you will work through your feelings and reflect on your narrative in a safe, compassionate, and non-judgemental way.

This work is close to my heart as it provides me the honour to work with people from diverse cultures, belief systems, and lifestyles. Over the past fifteen years, I have worked with CAS, the school board, mental health agencies, hospitals, non- profit agencies, and now, a family health team in the GTA. You are welcome to view my Psychology Today profile.

I am trained in the following therapeutic modalities:

  • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy
  • Dialectical Behaviour Therapy
  • Narrative Therapy
  • Trauma Informed Therapy
  • Emotion Focused Family Therapy
  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy

My practice is out of Milton, ON. If you are interested in Heart Work Therapy services, I would be glad to have a phone chat with you so we can learn a few key things about each other. There is no fee for the initial phone conversation.

I use a strength-based approach to address anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, anger management, difficulties in relationships – including parent / child relationships, struggles with self-esteem, improving coping strategies, and more. My clinical work includes (but is not limited to) working extensively with youth and their families in regards to understanding family culture / dynamics, effective communication, practicing validation, relationship mindfulness skills, and emotion management.

My services: individual therapy, group therapy and family therapy.

Each session is one hour in length for which the fees are $120 for individual therapy and $180 for relationship / family therapy. Heart Work Therapy accepts e-transfer, credit card, debit and cash. Electronic receipts are provided upon completion of each session.

There are many extended benefit packages which cover social work practice. If you have benefits, please inquire with your company to find out if this is an option for you. You can do this by simply checking if you are covered for services delivered by a Registered Social Worker.
